Shopping in Dubai

Shopping in Dubai is definitely a phenomenon as there are numerous shopping malls to cater your every need. And because Dubai is also notable for its open port, low import duties and the tax-free status! You can say that it is literally a paradise for all the shoppers!

So don't let a day of your stay goes by without visiting the fabulous shopping malls. Start with Jumeirah Road, this road is lined with chic cafes and shopping malls, you can easily spend the whole day going from one mall to another!

Gold souk, Spice market, Bur Dubai, Deira

The way to explore Deira, an area on the north of Dubai creek, is to just strolling around the busy district with your friends and a good map. Also wear something comfortable because you'll be doing a lot of walking!

Dubai is famously known as "the city of gold". It has positioned itself as the center of gold trade in the Middle East, its gold prices are among the lowest in the world and the rates are set daily by the government (you can check it in the newspaper). Gold here is priced according to the weight while there might be a small charge for the design and craftmanship.

Madinat Jumeirah

Madinat Jumeirah is this ancient Arabian theme hotel and resort not very far from Burj Al Arab. This huge resort consisted of 2 luxurious hotels: Mina A' Salam and Al Qasr, health clubs, spa, souk (traditional Arabic bazaar), restaurants and other fabulous facilities! This would probably be an ideal destination for honeymooners or a great place for a family vacation!

I love the decorations inside the souk, they are absolutely amazing and I felt like walking in Aladdin movie! (only with air conditioning haha) All the shops are really nice too, you'll find almost anything that represents Dubai, this is the place to get high quality and authentic souvenirs back to your friends and family like Arabic dresswear, handicrafts, jewellery, carpets etc.

Mall of the Emirates

I started my first day in Dubai with "Mall of The Emirates", the currently largest shopping mall in the middle-east. We got there by a private taxi which cost us AED 25. When we got out of the car, I was hit by a really hot wind (the temp was 48c.!!) so we quickly got inside the building for air-conditioning. There are tons of stores like Louis Vuitton, Boss, Mont Blanc etc... There are also another two malls inside, Harvey Nichols and Debenhams where you can spend all day enjoying your retail therapy and just have fun!!
