Desert Safari Adventure

If you come to Dubai...then going on a desert safari tour is definitely a must! There are lots of tour operators in Dubai to choose from depending on your budget (AED160-300) I chose Knight Safari so after I made a booking for two of us, they asked for our address. When you go on a tour like this, they will normally pick you up at your place or your hotels wherever you stay and then bring you to the meeting point.

The car arrived at around 4pm and we sat in the back of the 4WD cuz there was already a family sitting in the front and the 2nd row of the land cruiser...it took about 45 mins to get to the meeting point. When we finally got into the desert, the driver stopped and then checked the tire pressure for security stuff, I buckled up as we started to go thru sand dunes...it was so much fun!! The girl in front of me was screaming the whole way!! I was trying to get my sis to take a photo of me in the car but it was impossible cuz we were going like 45 degree angle across the dunes!

After like 30 mins, all the vehicles gathered around to let you take photos of the desert and get some cold water. The desert was soooo beautiful and I took tonsss of pics!! :)) After that we continued our journey to the campsite in the middle of the desert, when we got there you can ride camel or do the sand skiing and while people were queing up for the camel ride, me and my sis went inside the Bedouin camp to wash up ourselves. I tried some dates and arabic coffee (which was too bitter for me so I just had a sip).

There's also other traditional activies to try like holding the falcon, get a henna paint, dressing up in local dress and of course shisha. In every safari package, there's a barbeque dinner and soft drinks included and alcohol is also available in the camp but I think you have to pay for it. The barbeque is pretty good except that I don't eat any meat other than chicken and pork (and of course they don't serve pork), I think there're beef and lamb too so yeah bon appetit!

After dinner, just grab a seat around the central stage cuz there'll be an Arab woman performing a belly dance. During the show the dancer will go around and asking people to join in so if you don't want to be a part of this (like me) then just sit another row back as they pretty much pick whoever sitting in the front. I really enjoyed the show and couldn't take my eyes off the dancer's amazing hip moves!

We left the camp around 9pm but this time the driver drove normally otherwise I think we'd all throw up...we got home around 10.15pm and oh my goddd, my shoes are full of sand! So I would recommend you to wear slippers or flip flops when going on a safari... whatever that's easy to remove the sand (I saw all the drivers went bare foot...great idea!) So yeah, this is absolutely one of my favorite experience in Dubai and if I ever have a chance...I'd definitely do it again without a second thought!
