Burj Al Arab

Okay, so as some of you may already know that Burj Al Arab is one of the world's most luxurious hotel and also the one and only "7-star" property. To be honest, I got my mind set on that dream place ever since I saw it on tv so when my sister told me that we're gonna have lunch there and I get to pick any restaurant of my choice...oh boy, I was thrilled!

I visited the hotel's website www.burj-al-arab.com and browsed thru lists of fine dining places, I finally decided to go with this Mediterranean restaurant 200 meters above the sea overlooking Arabian gulf called "Al Muntaha" (which means the highest or the ultimate in Arabic)

What we forgot to do was to make a reservation the day before! That day I woke up at 11 am and realized that lunch starts at 12.30pm so while I was getting ready, my sister called and booked a table for two... unfortunately we couldn't get a table by the window as they were all gone!well...I still wanna take a look up there so I guessed it's fine.

We had to be there by 2pm cuz the last order for lunch is at 2.30pm. I called a cab and we were waiting for him to get to our place like foreverrrrrr...it took almost an hour for us to get there (which normally is only like 15 mins from our place) and on the way, the hotel staff called again to see if we were still coming cuz it's already 2.15pm. I was so worried that we wouldn't be there in time to order our food but the staff said they'll wait.

When we finally got there, we had to pass two security gates. The first one will ask for your reservation number for getting inside the property. This reservation code was given to my sister when she made a reservation via phone call.I gave him the paper with the reservation number then he radioed someone because we weren't on the list. My sister told him that we made a late booking so the list was probably not updated yet, the guard let us thru anyway :)

As we drove pass the second gate leading to the bridge connecting the hotel and the beach, I finally see the building up close and oh my god the sea by the beach was sparkling green it's so beautiful!! There were 3 hotel staffs waiting to greet us at the main entrance, one with a silver plate full of dates and another one with rose water. I wanted to try one but my sis was already running up the escalator to the 2nd floor.

We went up this express glass elevator that took us to the 27th floor, it was so fast I had to stand away from it. When we finally get there, this lovely chinese lady took us to "Al Muntaha". We were seated and offered a lunch menu (2-course for 460 AED, 3-course for 510 AED), my sis and I chose to go with the set lunch instead of ordering an à la carte.

For starter I chose "White Lobster Bisque, Poached Seafood", "Pan-Fried Seabass, Petit Pais and Gnocchi" for main course and "Salad of Poached Fruits, Rice Pudding Espuma" for dessert. My sis went for "Terrine of Rabbit, Chicken & Fole Gras, Poached Hen's Egg, Sauce Gribiche", "Braised Wagyu Brisket Rossani" and "Individual Cheese, Fresh Cut Fruits, Truffle Honey"

Then the waiter brought us our drink and a complimentary basket of bread and butter. It was about 10 mins after I take a look around that our starters arrived and as we finish our meal dish by dish I feel like I wanna live here! lol The view from up there was just breathtaking! You can see Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Mina A' Salam and Al Qasr Hotel from where you sit...I can even see The Palms too! We didn't really wanna leave so we lingered there til like 4pm.

My overall experience, I was really satisfied with the ambiance, the food and I think the staff are also very attentive too. I was already impressed with Dubai world class dining experience and I would recommend anyone to give "Al Muntaha" a try at least once, see if you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
